As the Bearcats are wrapping up their preseason, they are carrying a record of 2-3. In preparation for this year, on offense they have worked on 7v7, route running, and getting the ball out quick. On defense, they watch film and find the weakness on the other teams to find patterns where they can stop the ball. So far, they have played Northview (Scrimmage), Muir, Diamond Ranch, Aquinas, San Dimas, and Schurr. All the games so far have been competitive on both sides of the ball.

This season, some of the top players for Bonita have been Jacob Maddox, Cade Burbidge, Sebastian Vasquez, and Isaiah Lazarus. In the first five games, Jacob Maddox has the most receiving yards per game with an average of 53 and leads the team with three touchdowns. Cade Burbidge leads the team with six passing touchdowns and 555 passing yards. Sebastian Vasquez has an average of 61 yards per game and two touchdowns. And lastly, Isaiah Lazarus has an average of 9.5 tackles per game and one sack.

Even though a few of our captains are out due to injury, they are still encouraging and leading their team. From one of our captains Travis Lippert said “They didn’t have a perfect start but are looking forward to league.” Sophomore Matt Milazzo said, “The football team can be much better then we are now and we can do better on the field by working together and playing hard”.

As the team heads into their last preseason game on October 3rd against Colony, they hope to defend the den as they play at home. Heading into league, the team wants to accomplish getting first place and securing a spot in CIF. By continuing their momentum of winning and teamwork, their season can turn around for the better.
